Rotary Club & Trade School Donates Books & Shelves to Fire Department

The Rotary Club of Saipan, Atkins Kroll and the Northern Marianas Trades Institute donated six book shelves to the CNMI Fire Department on Tuesday.

Rotary Club vocational services director Thomas M. Thornburgh said the idea started when Rotary Club of Saipan president Richard Cody visited the fire department and noticed that the office had no television and no books or other reading materials.

“So Rotary Club members decided to collect books which will be donated along with the bookshelves,” Thornburg said.

“We saw a need for literature for the firemen on duty to keep them occupied,” Cody said. They also collected books from Rotary Club members to go with the bookshelves.
