2017 Wilbur Smith Rotary Graduate Scholarship
Welcome to the Wilbur Smith Rotary Club’s 2017 Graduate Scholarship Application process. This is the 1st year of the scholarship, which is now a $1,500 grant.
The Wilbur Smith Rotary Graduate Scholarship is intended to meet the needs of service minded graduate students who plan on attending Texarkana’s local university, Texas A&M University-Texarkana. Current Wilbur Smith Rotarians are not eligible to receive this scholarship. Graduate applicants must have maintained a 3.0 GPA during Undergraduate School (for 1st year graduate students) or a current 3.0 GPA for students currently enrolled. Because these funds are limited, we ask that you only apply if you meet these criteria.
We value family, school activities, and community service very highly in our evaluation of applicants.
The Graduate Student Scholarship includes one year of FREE Wilbur Smith Rotary Club Membership, a wonderful opportunity for a local graduate student to become immersed in the social network of the business community. Scholarship acceptance will be contingent upon student’s commitment to attend no less than 50% of Rotary meetings every Thursday at noon (food is served!) and to participate in no less than 3 flag day projects (flag delivery, construction, or loading).
Three scholarships will be awarded at our Rotary meeting on or around July 20th, 2017.
Applications are due to the committee by Saturday, July 15th, 2017.
Best of luck to this year’s applicants! We thank you for your interest and recognize your hard work and effort during undergraduate school. We wish you luck in your future endeavors whether we can award you a scholarship or not.
